Start here
KnotCMS lets you edit content in Notion and sync it to Framer CMS. Setup happens in the web dashboard; the Framer plugin opens that dashboard for you.
Start with the content you have
Section titled “Start with the content you have”You can create a project from any of these starting points. All three use the same four-step wizard.
| You already have… | Choose this path in setup |
|---|---|
| A Framer CMS collection | Create a new Notion database from Framer |
| A Notion database and a Framer CMS collection | Connect existing databases |
| A Notion database | Create a new Framer CMS collection from Notion |
After setup, ongoing edits flow Notion → Framer CMS. Importing from Framer gives you a Notion database to edit from then on.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A Google account to sign in.
- A Framer project with CMS access and a Server API key.
- Access to the Notion workspace where your content lives or will be created.
You only need an existing Notion database if your chosen path uses one. Google Sheets is coming soon.
Syncing and publishing are separate
Section titled “Syncing and publishing are separate”Sync puts your content into Framer CMS. Publish updates your live website or preview. You can publish from Framer yourself, or enable auto-publish on a paid plan.
The setup guide shows both stages so you can tell when your content has arrived and when your site has updated.
Already have a project? Go to Auto-sync, Field mapping, or Troubleshooting.
